The Association for the Recovery of Asturian Military Architecture 1936/1937 ( A.R.A.M.A. 36/37) is a non-lucrative organization created on April of 2006 by a group of people involved with the preservation of the material patrimony related to the Spanish Civil War in the territory of Asturias, specially about the rests of military architecture of this time. The charter members were Mr. Alberto Flórez, Mr. J. Enrique Menéndez, Mr. Ramon Duarte and Mr. Artemio Mortera.
Since then, A.R.A.M.A. 36/37 is an historical society which is in charge of investigating, analyzing, registering and preserving warlike rests related to the conflict, creating conservation criterias and promoting measures in order to safeguard them as part of the Asturian Historic Heritage. In this way, it also impels the development of ways of studies and investigations centred on its historical context from a neutral and non-political point of view. Among the military defensive installations that have endured to our days and are object of study and investigation, we can mention trenches, pillboxes and machine guns arsenals, artillery emplacements, blockhouses, bunkers, ammunition depots, observation posts, as well as air-raid shelters, command posts, etc. To obtain of the competent administrations ways of actions oriented to the conservation and even increase the tourist-cultural importance of the most relevant and preserved is the most ambitious purpose of our institution.
Increasing the interest towards these historical vestiges through the spreading of its knowledge is another of our important tasks. That is why we develop very different activities: periodic publications, monographic studies, expositions, projections, visits and excursions... The guided visits and the routes for visiting rests wake up great expectation between members and friends, because appart from discovering the vestiges of the fight and knowing its history they let us to enjoy a day in contact with the nature and create a suitable atmosphere for getting the aims of the Association. A.R.A.MA. 36/37 have their social seat in the Hotel of Associations of Oviedo, although their members even reside in diverse Asturian localities and outside our Community For that reason this Web site is an authentic "virtual seat", meeting point between members, mass media, a way of contact and a platform of information about the Association (projects, activities, news, documents, archives, etc.). The association has members of all ages, jobs, ideologies, academic leves and keen on diverse hobbies , but with a common interest about knowing and preserving the rests of the Spanish Civil War related to our Community. If you share our interests, we invite you to join in this initiative.
